Clinical decision support (CDS) tools help disseminate care guidelines. However, such tools often require reprogramming at multiple sites when care guidelines change. To address these inherent inefficiencies, OCHIN and HealthPartners collaborated to establish a data exchange between OCHIN’s Epic© EHR and the CV Wizard CDS website. We report on challenges encountered when establishing data transfers, as a guide to others seeking methods for staying current with care guidelines.

Learning Objective 1: Understand inefficiencies in current clinical decision support tools requiring reprogramming for new care guidelines.

Learning Objective 2: Understand challenges when establishing data transfer needs to support data exchange between EHRs and web-based clinical decision support.
