A mobile app was conceptualized to address the logistical challenges of conducting family-centered rounds. The app prototype assists the medical team in the process of notifying bedside nurses to the start of family-centered rounds on their patients. Data on communication during rounds were collected for 3 months before and after go-live. Preliminary results suggest use of the app is associated with an increase in the rate of nurse notifications sent by the medical team, and with a decrease in the rate of late notifications.
Learning Objective 1: Learn how an EHR-integrated app may address some of the myriad logistical challenges with interdisciplinary communication and coordination on family-centered rounds.
