As healthcare undergoes transformation into the digital age, there is a clear need to create a balanced and well distributed clinical informatics workforce. To date few if any studies have been conducted on the geospatial and gender distribution of the physician clinical informatics workforce. Here, we present a preliminary analysis of publicly available data on the informatics workforce from the American Board of Preventative Medicine website.
