While opportunities exist to tailor medical treatment using personal health data, individuals’ willingness to self-monitor and generate such data is variable. We explored responses to mockups of a self-monitoring application through focus groups with low-income Latino adults living with type 2 diabetes. Participants liked the application overall, but opinions towards many of the mockups varied. Our findings suggest opportunities to tailor design of data-driven applications to increase engagement in this population.

Learning Objective 1: The audience will learn about the unique needs and challenges of a minority population in regards to app-based self-monitoring.
