Description

Matching the sequence of information to clinical decisions is a major challenge to usability in computerized decision support (CDS). We designed and implemented a CDS tool for physicians hospitalizing patients with pneumonia. CDS design that focuses on both the decision and the sequence of decisions can improve practice and decrease cognitive load.

Learning Objective 1: Learn the importance of information sequencing to the design of clinical decision support tools.

Learning Objective 2: Gain an understanding of the key decision tasks and decision sequences for clinicians in the diagnosis and management of pneumonia.
