Description

Symbolic representation of patient medical history requires significantly less storage space while preserving key information compared to data of individual records. Pieces of clinical information can be represented by symbols, and clinical hypotheses can be framed and quantified by patterns of symbols. We present a novel application of the construction, representation, and extraction of clinical insight from patient medical history using symbolism.

Learning Objective 1:
Learn the computational advantages of representing key information in patient medical history using symbolism. Understand that investigative inquiries can be represented and quantified by patterns of symbols.
