Two major challenges exist for achieving secure and trustworthy medication prescription exchanges across healthcare institutions (HI). First, today’s HI rely exclusively on centralized servers, which have proven to be increasingly insecure (e.g., single point-of-failure or ransomware attacks). Second, there is a lack of efficient strategies to ensure medication records transferred from one institution to another are trustworthy. To solve the two aforementioned challenges, we propose a blockchain-based decentralized network to manage historical medication prescriptions.
