Mapping to LOINC can be a challenging and resource intensive task, and mapping errors can negatively influence clinical care and data aggregation. To address these issues, we developed an implementation guide to help stakeholders identify the correct LOINC microbiology terms for qualitative and quantitative IVD tests and are evaluating its effectiveness. We are currently evaluating pilot testing results and we anticipate final review and publication in summer 2018.

Learning Objective 1: After participating in this session, the learner should be better able to:
Understand how the LOINC Microbiology Mapping Guide will help laboratories and IVD vendors improve the accuracy of their LOINC mappings.
