Associate Professor at Medical University of South Carolina
My research interests and activities focus on unstructured clinical data reuse for research and clinical care purposes, using advanced techniques such as Natural Language Processing for information extraction and automated de-identification, and automating ontologies development and management. My efforts and expertise in this domain have been reported in about 100 peer-reviewed publications. I am also working on technology transfer and commercialization of solutions to extract and infer information from electronic health record content, helping healthcare providers rapidly obtain a complete overview of important patient clinical information, and maintain complete and timely lists of problems, allergies, and medications, as well as helping healthcare organizations attain meaningful use requirements.
