Assistant Professor at Florida State University
Dr. Zhe He is an Assistant Professor in the School of Information at Florida State University. Prior to joining the faculty at FSU, he was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University Medical Center. He is interested in developing novel data-driven methods for discovering hidden patterns in biomedical and health data to help clinicians and researchers make smart decisions. In his postdoctoral research, he developed methods for analyzing population representativeness of clinical trials to improve the transparency of trial generalizability to the real-world patient population. He is also interested in developing structural and semantic methods to improve controlled terminologies and ontologies and enhance their use in Natural Language Processing, Clinical Decision Support, and Electronic Health Records. He has published more than 50 papers in leading biomedical informatics outlets such as Journal of Biomedical Informatics, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, Methods of Information in Medicine, American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Annual Symposium, and MEDINFO. His papers were selected as finalists in the Student Paper Competition of AMIA 2015 Clinical Research Informatics and MEDINFO 2015. His paper was highlighted in 2014 Informatics Year in Review, 2016 Clinical Research Informatics Year in Review. His papers won two Distinguished Paper Awards in AMIA 2015 and AMIA 2017.
