My interests’ focus on using algorithms and statistical models to increase the value health systems deliver to their patients. I am drawn to modeling and working with data from clinical trials, utilization, and revenue cycle. Developing and deploying predictive models requires an understanding of workflow and organizational context. William Rouse, PhD, describes healthcare as a complex system: one that has many layers of incentives from patients, to clinical actors, to managers, to insurers, and lastly regulators. This web of contextual complexity makes systems development and deployment challenging, and it is a challenge I relish.
